TARGET

It is during the Set Up stage of the Team-Based Cycle of Instruction that teams complete the TARGET Action Steps including the report out to the teacher and the class. Although TARGET does not happen immediately within the school year, the Set Up stage should be in place from the first day of school. Training students to focus in on Set Up Directions and establishing various procedures should be a natural part of students’ routines from the beginning of the school year. That way, when TARGET is integrated into the Set Up stage, students  are already accustomed to checking Set Up Directions, getting out materials and homework, reviewing Hot Words and arriving on time.
