THE POWER OF ENGAGING FAMILIES

Family engagement has been embedded into SPDG as a means of connecting the schools with home. As our work at the school and classroom level revs up, so will our work in supporting positive family engagement within your schools to support the grant.

The focus of this OLE is to develop knowledge regarding family engagement and its impact on student achievement as well as explore certain strategies that can be used in your selected schools.

By the end of the PDQuest, teams will meet the following outcomes:

• Build knowledge about research-based information surrounding family engagement.
• Explore strategies on how family engagement assists students to be successful in school.
• Identify characteristics of collaboration as they relate to family engagement activities in each of your schools.
