Reading Probes

1. Does the difficulty relate to basic reading problems, such as having difficulties with decoding, word recognition/vocabulary or fluency?

2. Does the difficulty relate to a comprehension problem?

3. Is the comprehension problem due to the fact that the student cannot decode well, affecting fluency also?  If the problem is in comprehension and basic reading, then you should look at strategies in both areas.
