Rime Patterns

Rime Patterns are what teachers use to know as word families.

In teaching decoding skills, it helps students to understand Rime Patterns or Word Families so they may look for familiar patterns within words.

Even older struggling readers should be reminded of Rime Patterns so that they may look for these patterns when chunking unfamiliar words. For older students it helps to not only build word identification, but also helps with automaticity.
