ladamso1's Profile
- About ladamso1:
- I'm a member of the faculty of the School of Education (1998 to present). I love teaching and learning about teaching ever more effectively in all contexts. My own school-based teaching was in elementary schools in Anne Arundel County, MD, and in a Saturday program in Baltimore City. I value the time my work at JHU SOE requires me to spend in schools because that's where the kids are and that's where I get my grounding in what teachers need right now. It's wonderful to also teach in the Master of Ed. in the Health Professions program -- being able to make a contribution to more effective evidence-based teaching in medicine, nursing, public health, etc., is a thrill.
My non-JHU professional work (volunteer) is a collaboration with rural Mayan communities in a small region in the Guatemalan highlands, supporting improved access to and effectiveness of education and other aspects of capacity-building.
I have a passion for learning about ways to enhance resilience and am committed to integrating a grounding in the research and practices that will equip teachers in all settings to nurture and sustain their own resilience and that of their students.
