This self-assessment inventory can help identify areas for continued professional development for individuals and teams, and identify individuals who can mentor or coach others.

Review your current competency in completing evaluations and assessments with families by checking the appropriate column for each item identified below, using this response scale:

Awareness: I am aware of this but don't apply it in my work/interactions.
Knowledge: I understand it, and sometimes apply it in my work/interactions.
Application: I understand this and apply it consistently in my work/interactions.
Mastery: I understand and apply this well enough to teach/mentor others.

Pair natural observation with quantitative methods for evaluation and assessment

        

Collaborate with at least one other discipline to determine a child's eligibility

       

Use nondiscriminatory materials and procedures including a child's native language or mode of communication

       

Complete initial evaluation and assessment within 45 days of the receipt of referral

       

Determine a child's eligibility by comparing diagnosis and/or evaluation results with Maryland's ITP criteria

       

Document the eligibility determination in writing

        

Share results with parents or guardians verbally and in writing using family-friendly language

       

Identify the supports and  services to promote a child's participation in family desired settings
