Making Access Happen

Let’s review the topics covered in the Positive Guidance session. In this section of the Developmentally Appropriate Practice module, we presented strategies for setting clear expectations for young children in our care. These strategies included building routines, using visual schedules, using visual, appropriate rules, and using cues. We also presented information on what to think about when you are designing learning opportunities for children, such as considering each individual child’s preferences, strengths, and challenges. In addition, we reviewed thinking through the need for scaffolding of play and providing choices to children when we are planning learning opportunities. Finally, we presented strategies and resources for building problem-solving skills in young children. Please feel free to return and review any of the information in this session.

This concludes the Positive Guidance session. We'll continue with Positive Relationships in the next module.
