Maryland Online IEP

Let's review what we have discussed in the Goals and Objectives module. We identified the purpose of writing standards-aligned IEP goals and objectives and outlined the five components of IEP goals in Maryland. We specified 5 steps to develop IEP goals and objectives (Examine Grade Level Curriculum and Functional Age Expectations, Understand Student Strengths and Needs, Prioritize Academic and Functional Skills, Develop IEP Goals and Develop Objectives). Finally, we evaluated our learning by identifying the five components of IEP goals and objectives and extended this learning by completing the assessment activity.

Let’s take a moment to reflect upon increasing family engagement in the area of goals and objectives:

Family Connection:	Write goals and objectives in family-friendly language. Provide and review the draft goals and objectives with parents/caregivers at least 5 days before the annual IEP meeting.

Please take a moment to complete the following 3-question survey on this module. Your input is instrumental in helping us think through and improve on the design of our learning resources so that we can better support you in meeting your learning goals: Module 02: Goals and Objectives Survey

This concludes the second module. In the next module, we will learn effective strategies for developing, implementing and evaluating specially designed instruction (SDI).
